A late bloomer in the music world, Phil Glennie was 34 years old when he stepped into a studio for the first time. Having played live shows and self-recorded for 18 years on Canada's East Coast, Phil shied away from professional recording due to fears about the process and about releasing his music to the broader public. But at the urging of close friends who believed in him and his music, Phil assembled a group of Canada's most talented musicians and recorded his debut album, "Wake," in 2018-19. With his bittersweet vocals and unforgettable melodies, Phil mixes genres ranging from 1990s alt-rock to the East Coast folk songs his grandmother sang to him as a child. The result is a heart-swelling sound whose highs and lows recall the Atlantic tides that inspired them.
